Woodberrie

This is our second build for this family; in both cases extensive alterations and additions to historic houses high above London near Epping Forest. Woodberrie, although an Arts and Crafts vision of idealised country living, has a cellular layout, low ceilings and small windows that ignore farreaching views. Our designs open up this interior and add new expanses of glazing. A double-height entrance and stair hall links to the new wing; a dignified, barn-like form containing a view-capturing drawing room, study, master bedroom suite and gym. Matching materials extend but simplify the existing language, and new chimneys further punctuate the skyline.
